In Class Performances
In Class Performance days will be scheduled throughout the semester. Dates will be announced and sign up sheets will be available ahead of time. These performance times give you a chance to perform in front of an audience and work through the kinks of performance. Pieces should be prepared well in advance. Performances generally last 2 to 3 minutes (perhaps longer on occasion, not often shorter). You may choose to have "No Comments," "Teacher Comments," or "Jury Review". Teacher Comments may be written, vocal or both. During a Jury Review, peers are selected by the teacher to provide written or vocal comments or both.
The guidelines for In Class Performances are as follows:
The guidelines for In Class Performances are as follows:
- You may perform any genre. Preference will be given to art songs, solo and ensemble pieces and audition preparation pieces (including Musical Theater).
- You must be prepared early. You will not be able to sign up on the day of the performances.
- You must use a backtrack or live accompaniment for solo performances. Solo pieces may not be performed a'capella.
- Once you have signed up, you cannot choose not to perform. We understand that things come up that make it difficult to perform, but signing up is a commitment and not performing, regardless of the reason, will result in a grade deduction from the class. If we have cleared class time for your performance, you should respect that by being prepared.
- If you have questions about your performance, you should seek help from the teacher.
