So I made Trilogy, what happens next?
Well, there is a checklist of things that need to happen next.
A) Parent Meeting. I am thinking next Wednesday (the 21) from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. in the choir room. The student and at least one parent should be in attendance with a notepad and a pen or pencil. At this parent meeting, we will cover lots of items that will help us organize and plan. DONE.
B) Complete the Online Information Form (before May 21): click here to complete the form. DONE.
C) Working on this: We need to order uniforms (dresses and tuxes). We know what we will be using, we will need sizes.
D) Working on this. All-State Choir has been decided. Japanese students hosting is decided. What ARE you going to sing for S&E? Decisions, decisions, decisions. Are you interested in All-State Choir? Are you interested in hosting a Japanese student for a couple of weeks ($400 toward the $425 choir fee)? What are you singing for Solo and Ensemble (you need to pick a piece)? We will work out these and other details.
E) Keep vocally strong. I am going to list four or five songs below that I would like you to come back familiar with and ready to sing. We will get together a couple of times during the summer to run through these and other music.

by Orazzio Vecchi (Madrigal) Learn both verses in Italian. Match the tone from number three (What if I Never Speede). I love the tone on this one although it is way too slow. Consider looking up other versions of this same song to get a better idea of its tempo. ![]()

by Palestrina (Motet) Another classic from the renaissance. Look up the definition of motet. It is not a long song, but requires attention to detail. ![]()
by John Dowland (Madrigal) Listen carefully to the sample video. Try to match tone and performance style. This is a great example of what we want to be. ![]()
by Anton Bruckner (Eight Part Motet) This is our first exploration into eight parts. Learn yours and how you fit into the ensemble. Match vowel and tone well. ![]()

by Eric Whitacre (20th Century) Maybe this is too much to bite off right at the start. But I think that there are things that we can learn and grow through this. Don't panic, just have fun and match the great tone found in this video. Use principles from the others songs in this one. This .pdf file is not for distribution and should be used for rehearsal for our singers. ![]()
